Chester is a city that is located in the Chesire city of England. This city is situated on the banks of River Dee and is located on very nearby to the borders with Wales. This city is one of the largest and most populous in the entire Chesire area.

Since the early times, canals were the main means of transport in this city. They were used to transport the raw materials like coal, gypsum etc. from one part to another. The Chester Canal has a lock system which runs on the principle of high and low tides.
Earlier this city was served by main railway stations out of which only one is used today. Chester General is a seven platform station where trains from Manchester and London arrive here. Besides this there are a number of other train services that operated from here.
